Secondary Research:

A multi-camera show is a show which is normally filmed live, removing the ability to cut to different shots and meaning everything has to be done in one take, this means a director or floor manager needs the ability to cut to different cameras within seconds whilst also rehearsing constantly on the build up to the show. If mistakes are made, these cannot be edited out, adding pressure to the people on the people starring in the show. Most Multi-camera shows also have a live studio audience.

Multi Camera roles, Job lis

Actor: This is the job role I have done most in class in class, I have enjoyed the role greatly but do feel that I should do other jobs as my skills in other jobs will stagnate.
Camera Man: This is the role I really disliked, I found it quite boring as I was just point a camera where I was told.
Marketing: I really enjoyed Marketing as I could get creative with what I did, I have done this job twice, creating an advert and creating an ident, both these times I was abel to get creative and improve my skills on after effects and premiere pro.
Editor: This is part of marketing as I had to edit for the marketing side of the TV studio project.

Multi camera drama roles 2

Today I was again acting in the show, however I played a key role in its idea generation and in its advertising campaign.

I worked on the advertisement alongside Luke where we came up with a simple idea for Cai to introduce the show and a simple logo with a pig in front of it, we filmed this in around 5 - 10 mins where I then took the footage back and reviewed it with Luke and we decided what we would with the footage. I then went home and edited the footage how we had specified, this turned out ok and we used the advert in the final show.

The show was well received and it has given us a basis upon which our future shows can be held to, the premise was well thought out and evolved naturally within our group, although the other group later stole this idea through a lack of their own idea, this was annoying, however it was good to see a continuation of our show from earlier and a comparison on how two different variations of planning can effect a production.

I am looking forward to next week although I am tired of acting now and would like another role such as vision mixer or floor manager, to experience these roles and the differences they hold to my previous two.

Next time I plan to put more effort into the pre-production as I felt there wasn't much effort on my part for the editing, I could of made a far better advert had I set aside more time to edit it, rather than leaving it to the last minute. This could create an even batter finished product than we created today.

Multi-camera Drama roles

Over the past three weeks I have mainly be in front of the camera acting in various roles and gaining experience in setting up a live, multi-camera show. I have also helped greatly with idea generation for multiple products that we have done in the class, often inputting on what should happen in certain parts of the shows.

I also wrote half of the script for our Jeremy Kyle show and filmed another this gave me experience on both camera work and script writing, this will be invaluable to me as it will help me further in my future career in the industry.
